It is a species endemic to the island of Palawan.
Palawan peacock-pheasants are highly insectivorous; they eat isopods, earwigs, insect larvae, molluscs, centipedes and termites, as well as small frogs, drupes, seeds and berries.
They are strictly monogamous. The female usually lays up to two eggs. Both parents raise the chicks for up to two years. The males act as sentinels of the nesting sites and are very aggressive during the breeding cycle.
Owing to continuing habitat loss, small population size and limited range, as well as hunting and capture for trade, the Palawan peacock-pheasant is classed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. It is listed in Appendix I of CITES.

We take part in the breeding programme: EEP (since 2020)
