Younger visitors experience first-hand what it is like to be an animal keeper.
If you love animals and want your children to enjoy a different kind of day, look no further: your choice is โZookeeper for a Dayโ.
This experience lets younger visitors find out first-hand what it is like to be an animal keeper, always with the main aim of having a fun day.
By taking part in this programme, they will have the chance to work alongside professional keepers and learn more about caring for the zoo's animals. This may include tasks such as feeding the animals, cleaning their enclosures and doing exercises with them. They can also take part in conservation activities and learn about the history and behaviour of different species.
Whenever possible, the โzookeepers for a dayโ will be able to go on a โbehind the scenesโ tour and have the chance to see the facilities and meet other zoo professionals.
It is important to bear in mind that the โZookeeper for a Dayโ programme is only an experience and not a real job: it does not replace the professional keepers or their vital work at the zoo.

The activity starts at 09:30 and the โkeepersโ go home for lunch, as it finishes at 14:00.
The recommended age for this activity is between 5 and 12 years.
The dates of the activity are announced on the website and on our social media. It is always scheduled during school holidays, which may be Carnival, Easter, summer, Halloween or Christmas.
