Internships at Zoo Koki

Internships

Real hands-on training alongside our team of keepers, vets and educators.

📣 Information

Few professions offer people as many rewards as those involving wild animals, which is why doing an internship after or during your studies is essential to becoming an effective professional who is confident in their abilities. Without the practical side, the theory learned in the classroom is not enough: it does not prepare you to face real problems or to make quick decisions about how to act in critical moments.

The benefits of an internship go much further: it gives you experience that counts on your CV and a wide network of contacts in the field, which can be very useful for hearing about job openings, getting a letter of recommendation and perhaps even being hired in the future.

If you are looking for a place to do your professional internship, please get in touch with us.

🍀 Remember that we have direct collaboration agreements for practical training in animal- and plant-related studies with the following institutions:

🪢 What types of internship are there?

Company internships can be curricular or extracurricular:

  • Curricular internships are those recognised as the Work Placement subject.
  • Extracurricular internships are voluntary placements that are not part of the study plan and can be added to your academic record.

👣 Steps and useful information

  • Check whether your centre is on our list of collaborating organisations. If it is not, we can sign an agreement.
  • Gather all the documents needed for the internship. It is important that your training centre gives you the insurance and enrolment details. Students are insured throughout the internship period.
  • Contact us: we need to know your availability and possible start dates.
  • Once you start, you must sign the internship contract.
  • Duration: curricular internships last a minimum of 300 hours (ask us about other situations).
  • Internships have a fee of €200 to cover administration, materials, personalised tutoring and the training platform. This fee is waived for students of our training platform.

❓ Frequently asked questions

🔸 Are company internships paid?
No, internships are unpaid. But what we offer is worth a lot: you will have real responsibilities, not decorative tasks; you will be guided by experienced professionals; you will learn with wild animals in a unique setting; you will receive practical and theoretical training suited to your level; and you will take an active part in the team's daily work. And if you need it, we will help you find accommodation.

🔸 Can I do an internship at any time of year?
Yes, we welcome students all year round. The duration will depend on the agreement with your educational centre.

🔸 Is there insurance or cover in case of an accident?
If you do a compulsory internship as a student, insurance is included in the agreement with your educational centre. If you do an extracurricular internship, you are covered by our public liability policy.

🔸 Do you offer accommodation during the internship?
Not at the moment, although we are working to change that in the future.

🔸 What are the internship hours?
The schedule runs from Monday to Sunday with a rotating day off: Monday to Friday, 9:00–16:00; Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00 to 18:00. Summer hours may vary because of the high temperatures.
